I feel deeply grateful for the warmth, respect, and encouragement I received from Nazrul Charcha Kendra, Barasat (West Bengal)-both personally and on behalf of La Casa de los Políglotas—for my work in the field of language and literature. Such recognition from a dedicated literary and cultural platform devoted to Kazi Nazrul Islam is truly meaningful to me.

On the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Karabandi Mukti Dibas (Day of Release from Prison), a discussion meeting, poetry recitation, and cultural programme was organised on 28 December 2025 at Muktangan Welfare Society, Barasat. I was honoured to present my paper titled “My Experience in the Translation of Poems and Quotations of Kazi Nazrul Islam from Bengali to Spanish” and to be selected as one of the two key speakers, alongside Dr. Debashree Ghosh Biswas, Associate Professor at Dakshineswar Hiralal Majumdar Memorial College for Women. While Dr. Ghosh Biswas spoke insightfully on Nazrul’s prison life, shedding light on the poet’s resilience, ideology, and creative strength during incarceration, my presentation focused on the experience, challenges, and responsibility of translating Nazrul’s poems and quotations into Spanish and carrying his revolutionary voice across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Azizar Rahman, Deputy Secretary, West Bengal Madrasah Education Board, whose presence added institutional and intellectual dignity to the programme.

The programme was chaired by Professor Amalendu Debnath, and skilfully anchored by Teacher Sajahan Mondal, ensuring a thoughtful and well-structured flow of discussion.

The event was further enriched by the gracious presence of several distinguished guests and cultural figures, including Professor Sahidul Islam, President, Muktangan Welfare Society; Assistant Headmaster Fahimul Hossain, Secretary, Muktangan Welfare Society; Shri Shankar Dam, President, Nandagar Unnayan Samity; Shri Samar Debnath, Secretary, Nandagar Unnayan Samity; and Shri Malay Das, Secretary, Bangla Bhasha Sanskriti Mancha.

Also present were Advocate Sheikh Mainul Haque, President, Bengal Minority Forum, along with Teacher Siyamat Ali, Secretary, Bengal Minority Forum; and Teacher Abu Siddik Khan, Editor of Sirat. Their participation reflected the strong community and cultural engagement surrounding Nazrul’s legacy.

Members of Nazrul Charcha Kendra, Barasat, along with local poets, artists, and cultural practitioners, actively took part in poetry recitation and cultural performances, making the programme vibrant and participatory.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shaikh Kamal Uddin, Founder of Nazrul Charcha Kendra, Barasat, for the kind invitation and for entrusting me with such an important role in this meaningful programme. This recognition truly means a great deal to me and strengthens my commitment to literary translation, multilingual dialogue, and keeping Nazrul’s revolutionary voice alive across languages and cultures. On behalf of La Casa de los Políglotas, we also offered Dr. Shaikh Kamal Uddin a small New Year token of appreciation, as a gesture of respect and gratitude for his support and vision.
